Canon Point: Episode 64, after Dr. Marcoh’s and Dr. Knox’s visit at the hospital.
Gender & Sex: F
Age: Not specified by canon, but given her history and experience in the military, I approximate her age as 27 going on 28.
Birthdate/Sign: September 3 / Virgo
No canon birth date was given. However, following the Zodion guidelines on signs, being a Virgo suits Riza most. As an Amestrian soldier, she showed dedication and helpfulness in carrying out her duties as an excellent sniper in the battlefield of Ishbal, despite her personal misgivings. These traits also shone earlier in her life as she was a loving daughter to her father and never thought twice about standing by him, even if his obsession over Alchemy made him distant from her. Her organizational skills are much needed by Colonel Mustang as she makes sure that her files and reports are impeccable, and she insists that the Colonel is never remiss in his work, to the point of being over-demanding (at least, in Mustang’s point of view). Despite her strict demeanor, she is able to extend sympathy towards those seeking her assistance, and outside of the office, she shows a warm personality, welcoming people to her home and taking care of stray animals. Her wit, however, goes hand-in-hand with her ability to dish harsh criticism. While careful with her words as befitting her position, she doesn’t hold back in calling her own Colonel “useless” whenever he gets his gloves wet and that he is unable to perform his flame alchemy. Her temper is usually kept in check and is otherwise covered by her wit, but she is also shown to be capable of losing her cool in the face of extreme failure (such as when she was taunted with the thought that Mustang died). Riza’s eccentricity shows in how she trained her adopted Shiba Inu, Black Hayate: by shooting at the puppy (not to kill, of course!) so as it would not urinate just anywhere. And finally, Riza was never shown to engage in behavior unbecoming a soldier, and to wear revealing clothing when out in public and when presenting herself to people -- a display of a certain level of prudishness by behaving, and dressing and grooming herself appropriately.
Tattoo: On the back of her left hand, between her knuckles and wrist, 1.5” in size.
Suitability: Riza is of legal age.
Power: Riza doesn't have any canon power, and is not one of those who had learned alchemy. I would like her to be able to summon creatures that relate to the Earth element.
Personality:
We are introduced to a most strict and organized military officer and adjutant to Colonel Roy Mustang -- she who stands dutifully by the Colonel’s side, and she who makes sure (to the point of being called a nag) that he and her colleagues see to their tasks in a timely manner. Her formal, cool and seemingly unflappable demeanor has become the butt of lighthearted humor in the military, being called “the Colonel’s Nanny” or a “sadist”; but under the strictness and penchant for organization comes devotion; under her dutifulness comes loyalty, and under her perceived nagging is true concern and kindness
Before becoming an officer, Riza was the daughter of a brilliant -- but socially excluded -- alchemist, Berthold Hawkeye. Since the death of her mother, she remained dutifully by her father’s side and watched him obsess over his studies of alchemy. Such obsession bordered on madness, to the point that he has had the notes to his greatest achievement tattooed on his daughter -- a transmutation array that covers the most of her back. Regardless of his treatment of her, she remained a most loyal daughter until his death, fueled both by her love of her father and her belief in his dream: that alchemy can be used for the good of all and that it can bring people happiness.
It was through Berthold that Riza met the man that would see her grow from a timid teenager, to a dedicated soldier: Roy Mustang was Berthold’s apprentice and was the only other person that Riza could turn to upon her father’s death. Over Berthold’s grave, Roy not only extended an offer of help to the young woman, but he had shared with her his dream: to make Amestris a strong country, to protect its people by protecting those whom he can and those would do the same for others and so forth. It was a dream she had come to embrace and admire; a dream pusued by a man she can entrust the secrets of Flame Alchemy her back held.
Like any dream to be seen through however, one must face a battlefield and cannot afford to be innocent. In Riza’s case, the battlefield was real as she enlisted for military service and trained as a sniper. With her own eyes, she had seen what alchemy can do, as during the Ishval Civil War, it was not happiness that alchemy had brought -- it brought death, destruction and sadness, just like the sniper rifle she held in her hand. Despite the doubt and pain in her heart, Riza, “The Hawk’s Eye” carried out her duties for her country. As she buried an Ishvalan child in the aftermath of the war, she showed, above the deep regret for her actions, compassion and a desire to make amends by carrying the burden of the carnage they had brought to Ishval. To seal her resolve, she begged Mustang to burn the tattoo on her back, so as it would no longer give birth to another destructive Flame Alchemist.
With the ensuing (and relative) peace in Amestris, Roy gained a steadfast and loyal subordinate in Riza. He had assigned her both to be his guardian and executioner: that she must watch his back at all times, and that she should not think twice in shooting him should he stray from the path towards their dream. It was a duty that Riza accepted without hesitation -- for Roy, for Amestris, and for the people’s happiness.
Dealing with Roy Mustang calls for wit, if not for a certain brand of humor and it was something that Riza can deal almost easily. Their banter; her being able to call him, bluntly, “useless”; their being able to call each other "idiot"; their being able to catch each other's subtle wordplay, signals and looks, are some of the many witnesses to their bond that grew with each year they spend together. In the presence of younger people however, she shows a gentler and kinder demeanor. She kindly explained to Winry and then to Al that she had chosen to become a soldier for herself, and that her guns are not just for killing -- they were for protecting others. Her kindness also showed in how she had adopted an abandoned dog, whom she had affectionately named Black Hayate.
Hawkeye had become part of the Elric Brothers' struggle to bring their bodies back and to stop the nefarious powers that threaten Amestris. In addition to supporting Mustang, she was quick to do what she can to help: pretending to go on leave to carry out a mission to gain more information on the Homunculi via Gluttony, to drive (albeit dangerously) the Elrics and their friends to safety, to carry the injured and to even lend out her handguns if that was what it would take to keep Ed and his brother Al safe. Her loyalty, strength of heart, and sang-froid were tested in facing and in dealing with Homunculi: from Lust who fed her lies that she had killed her Colonel, to Envy who disguised himself as her Colonel and pushed his sanity to the limit; from Pride who threatened Mustang and her colleagues, to Wrath who took her hostage -- Riza had only come out stronger. Enemies thought that if Riza and her colleagues were taken away from Mustang, they will become weak and useless -- but Riza, along with the rest of Mustang's trusted men, used their cunning and resourcefulness to be able to communicate important information to help them win against the enemies. If with Lust, she had broken down and had practically given up on her own life, it was the Elrics' tenacity that gave her hope, and Mustang's will to live gave her courage. In turn, when she was toeing the line between life and death, she stubbornly held on and did all she can so as Roy would not stray from his path. Fatal injuries never stopped her from becoming Mustang's eyes and from fighting for the Elrics and their dream of a stronger Amestris.
Having defeated the Homunculi may have not allowed for Riza's early retirement, but with her loyalty and devotion, she stayed by Roy's side as they finally have a chance to build upon their dream. He will still need her diligence and organizational skills after all -- and surely, being a General's “nanny” and being a kind hand to serve their country was something that Riza Hawkeye would carry out dutifully, and gladly.

Greetings, Zodion. My name is Riza Hawkeye and I am from Central, capital of Amestris.
I wish to inquire about a few things, if any of you would be so kind to help. [ A pause and -- ] First, I'd like to know if there is a detailed manual on how to use this communications device, and where I can find it.
Second, is there a representative to the Twelve that I may speak to, or if there's someone who's knowledgeable with regards to our situation? I'd also like to know what exactly it is they need from me. I'm afraid that the... job [ “worship”? ] that I've been asked to do is lacking in important details.
I do not have much to offer with regards to material or monetary compensation for your help, but if there's anything I can do in return, I'll be glad to do what I can. Thank you for your time.
[ For now, Riza keeps the network open, while she takes to exploring her new -- and hopefully very temporary -- living space. ]
"Zodionlogs" Third-Person Prose Entry:
Riza didn't figure for the hospital lights to look warm through her eyelids. The overhead lights were white and bright, as was the norm in hospitals. But how come the light felt more like a reading lamp?
What was supposed to be milliseconds felt more like a long wait as Riza Hawkeye's senses awoke one by one. While Central's hospital was relatively quiet, the footsteps and whirrs of wheels outside her door can still be heard -- so how come it was suddenly so silent? The smell of the hospital with its medicines and disinfectants was also alarmingly absent. She felt a slight chill in the air, uncharacteristic of Amestrian summers, and against her back was no longer the pliant mattress of the hospital bed, but cold, hard stone.
Suddenly, the images of Central's cold, underground tunnels and chambers, and of Colonel -- now General -- Mustang being held immobile by the “King Bradley” candidates flashed through her mind, and, with a gasp, she finally opened her eyes-- the golden ceiling, the arches, the ornate columns, the chilly breeze. Slowly, Riza raised herself from the stone bed, to better peruse her surroundings, to better keep an eye or an ear for any person that might give her information, for any possible attacker -- or better yet, for her abductor. Her supporting herself with her arm however, suddenly made her look down at her hand as a sharp pain ran through it. She cursed mentally: the Colonel wasn't within sight, her neck had only begun to heal and now her hand--
The absence of pain on her neck had had quickly become a thought tucked at the back of her mind as she saw the symbol that was tattooed over her the top of her left hand. At first glance, she might have thought of it as a simple letter, but Riza felt that she might have already seen it before: in her father's studies -- in his notes, or part of a transmutation circle. 'What is the meaning of this...?' Running her fingers over the lightly glowing symbol, the pain quickly subsided, and the touch confirmed for her that it was not something that would easily be removed...
But this was no time to pick at some tattooed symbol.
Looking around once more, she plotted her plan of action: find out where she is and how she got there, then inquire after the General; and depending on the outcome of that inquiry, she will either look for him or find her way back to the hospital and see him there.
Riza only spared the mirror a quick look as she got back up on her feet, and let out a sigh in finding, to her dismay, that she was still in her hospital gown and slippers. There was nothing much else in the room, save for the podium that held some kind of cut... box? Brick? Black glass? -- and the letter that bore her name. Quickly, mechanically, she undid the envelope's seal and perused the contents of the letter.
'... welcome you to Zodion... to aid us... great peril... end to all that you know and cherish... your assistance will be vital... only you can accomplish... The Twelve...'
First, she read the letter quietly; then out loud, softly; then out loud as if reading to someone; then reading it quietly again. Riza understood the words of course, but she wanted to make sure that she understood -- what they meant -- to her, to her General to Amestris; what they entailed, what was expected of her to do, what she can do. On one hand, it would just be too easy to believe in what she sees and reads, but on the other, what with just happened in Amestris, things are not always what they seem. It would be best to gather more information. If “The Twelve” truly needed her help, and that their cause would truly benefit Amestris (Riza dreaded the idea that something big should happen again, after what just happened with “Father” and his Homunculi), then she will do what she can; but if this was just some elaborate prank, then someone will be in a great deal of trouble.
She looked to the shiny black object on the podium, and after a bit of deliberation, she tucked it into her envelope, along with the letter, and made her way out of the temple. Whatever it was might prove useful -- it came with her letter, after all. It could be a key to something bigger that might unlock many of her questions...
Riza rubbed her hands against her arm as the chilly spring-like breeze stirred. She had been making her way down the steps and into the grounds' courtyard when she heard a chime-like sound, and felt some odd vibration in her hand: it was that black device that has somehow lit up on its own. “A message?” She touches the glass surface with her fingers, watching how the display reacted to her touch. After a fair amount of trial and error, she had 'unlocked' her screen and opened her message -- she would have to get used to this device, and quickly.
The message gave her some odd relief in the midst of all the unknowns on her plate. At the least, she would not want for accommodations, nor would she have much trouble when it comes to sustenance -- they were a few less things on her mind. She just has to find her way towards her lodgings before she catches a cold in this chill. It would not do to get sick with the amount of work she is looking at ahead of her.
